Policy Alternatives of Pension Splitting in National Pension

Abstract

|
The aim of this article is to suggest policy alternatives of pension splitting in National Pension. Thus, first of all, the characteristics of pension splitting and the pensioners are examined. Also, issues of pension splitting in National Pension, which are required to reform, are reviewed. Then, pension splitting systems in Germany, Canada, and Japan is analyzed. As a result. there are two suggestions to reform pension splitting system which are long-term alternative and short-term one. In the long-term and short-term alternative, six policy alternatives of pension splitting in National Pension are examined, which are the time of pension splitting, how to split the pension, strengthening property rights on pension splitting, extinction date for the application, the rule for duration of marriage, and protecting the person responsible for pension splitting.
